Tangerine oil has a fresh, zesty, and sweet aroma, is yellowish orange in color and watery in viscosity. It is native to China, but was taken to Europe around 1805 and is now grown predominantly in the United States and Italy. Its name comes from Tangiers in Morocco, the port where the fruit was first shipped to Europe. Tangerines are almost identical to mandarin oranges, with the exception that it is has a deeper orange color, lacks pips, and is harvested at a different time of the year.

The therapeutic properties of Tangerine oil are antiseptic, antispasmodic, cytophylactic, depurative, sedative, stomachic and tonic.
